Sunday I raided Karazhan twice, Also started watching Nadesico anime aswell. I've found it has one of my pet hates about anime (chrono has it too) and thats that the characters are always screaming or yelling loudly and irritatingly, often making them very hard to understand and also having the effect of someone scratching their nails down a chalkboard. Its for that reason alone i only managed 5mins of 'Excel Saga'. I wish they wouldn't do that.
Talking of pet hates, LARP, It doesn't seem to matter how good your kit is, how nice your camp/tent etc looks, Unless your a girl with half your tits on show then no ones gonna bother taking pictures of you.

I wasn't keen or sure about driving the van, and that really un nerved me alot, but once i was actually doing it I was fine. Comfort zones and all that i guess.
Thursday consisted of kit making for the camp. Me and James were still painting banners when everyone else had stopped to start the drinking. I remember vague bits of Thursday night, Arguing that lobsters shouldn't be boiled alive but instead should have their neck snapped with someone at the tavern, Chatting up a barmaid, Drinking lots of ale and attacking everyone with the ice grabbing tongs. I met Drew (bleeder) on thursday too, He's awesome and we laughed alot while trying to get to wigans timberyard.
Friday was wonderfully sunny (turning me a nice lobster pink), The whole faction got together to paint banners, it was awesome, Especially the girl doing hers in her bra infront of me. The camp looked amazing, The command tent looked completely stunning! Eventually it came time in time, We all went and sat round the back of god and got into our kit. The bits ordered from america had to be hammered into a more 'fat british person' shape (seems all americans are stick thing). Both me and Andy realised our great helms were mainly just for show. Shame. I did wear it on the saturday a bit, to keep the sun off my head, but it had more of a lobster pot effect on me instead. Everyone seemed to like the shields too, although i need to work a strapping system so the can hang over your back. When we move down paths with them forward its like a moving wall! Proved highly useful in the battle. I didn't actually get hit that much at all, The shield took it all, Several hits to the head were more polearms 'wanging' off the shield itself... I wasn't overly sure if i was to take them or not, but did anyways, First realy time i've done the frontline crush thing, I advise anyone who does it in future to make sure they have a metal helm, people dont pull blows.
I lost both my shortswords over the course of the weekend, this really upset me as I really love them. Luckily Tinn, being leper king of awesomeness, found them and returned them to me, I shall be getting a proper scabbard made for them now by monsiuer Lewis.
Bah, Loads of awesome stuff happened, from a player or monster side, I could list them and be here for ages, But I wanna go do other things instead, so i won't. I feel this weekend alone blew the whole Greenest Court thing out the water, I've not enjoyed myself this much since playing Cogo. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the rest of this year goes, as I have various things going on and next events will have more friends there too :)
I did get the starts of trenchfoot over the course of sunday/monday though sadly, Had to rest up once home as it was very painful to walk.
Last night our warcraft raid (which was the first for me in 2weeks) succefully took down Leothrass the Blind in Serpentshrine Cavern (Leaving only Lady Vashj now! Uber!) and the first boss in Mount Hyjal (which was awesome as i got to play windee rather than Twinklytoes).
Tonight i take the van to scotts to unload the Jhereg kit. Tomorrow i attack this mountain of cd reviews i have..... fun!

I have thought about it alot and figured I want to go as i love Larp, But then theres so many things that i don't love about larp.
For a start theres the drive, A long drive to an event, any event. I want them in my own back garden, So I don't have to make a journey, I don't want to play spot the larper on the motorway, I don't want to be in a different place, I want larp on my doorstep in the same garden i see everyday.
Then theres the rainy weather, I don't want to get wet, I stay inside whenever it rains, Equally i stay inside whenever its sunny or windy aswell, Because i don't like the weather and rain.
Rain ultimately leads to mud, and i don't want to do larp and get dirty.... So i did consider just staying in my IC tent in my garden and ignoring spells etc that could put me anywhere near the mud, I could even try wearing plastic bags on my feet to stop me getting muddy aswell. Mud is evil you see, it ruins lives.
This also got me thinking of IC tents and costumes and the effort needed to do it. I have the Jhereg kit here in my van, But they will now have to find a way to get it there.... All 3 of them that are attending. But I will explain to them that its alot of effort putting up tents and putting on makeup... Instead they could sit at home in the studies and play world of warcraft... You get to fight, You get to be an elf or orc and you don't need to drive, get muddy (mud is evil), You don't need to put tents up or really do anything at all. They will see the light.
I also noted alot of people i know aren't going wigan either, and i don't like talking to people i don't know, I fear the thought of maybe meeting someone new and interesting. So rather than open myself up to that oppurtunity, I will stay home.
Roleplaying is also alot of hassle.... So once again i will play warcraft and do no roleplaying.... For a hobby its one hell of a chore.
Y'see, Ultimately, Larp, The hobby I love and enjoy, Is full of things I hate.... So why bother?
Because i fucking love it! All these 'bad points' are part and parcel, theres always alot of good points too!
I'm going to Wigan, and I'm going to have a great time! So bum to the lot of you!

Hello
Apr. 7th, 2008 | 10:42 am
Last week was ok, I spent a fair bit of it playing wow. I went and visited Kier and Rich etc on Monday night, poor keir wasnt well, He got 1st degree burns on his legs in thailand (from the sun) and was suffering from bloated feet because of it, he then also became very sick and turns out he has some kinda kidney infection too. No luck that man.
Friday evevning Me, Chibs, Laura and Neek all went and watched films over at James. Watched Hot Fuzz (which i thought was pants) and Breakfast Club (which is a classic). Just a nice chilled out evening with friends.
Saturday at work was good, The Automatic played before me so It wasn't a full night again. People enjoyed themselves and I did aswell.
Sunday afternoon - evening Me and James met up with Timmeh, Andy, Matt, Rich and The other guy who's name now escapes me, for Knight meet, where we were discussing our group, plans, ooc and ic setups etc for Wigan. It was very good fun! Only a few weeks now to sort out the last parts of the kit.
Also went and saw Lewis and Gemma at the workshop, was good to see them and nice to see Lewis enthusiastic about kit making again. I'm gonna be up there alot over the next few weeks making shields for Larp, Also adjusting the leather kit i made last year so Footy can wear it this year with beheading himself.
Todays plans are to get my cars back tyres changed (she passed her mot last week, but i was warned they were fading) and also getting a trim on my hair. Waiting for Skian Moore and 'Tha Glue Place!' to make deliveries to me so i can get underway on the shields.

End of an Era

This is a shame:
http://www.purplehaus.com/soundhausclosu
I know theres the inevitable people who will be gloating about it, But I think its a shame, I've really enjoyed the Soundhaus, theres also been times i've really hated it too. But as my title says, its the end of an era.

Allo!
Last week consisted of little.
Mosh on weds night was the final one, although they had said that about the one the week before, so more people came to that one instead, last weeks real final one was empty though as all the students had gone home for the easter to eat eggs. I'm kinda dissapointed that mosh finished, but really not suprised. Its zilch to do with my work, I do know that for a fact, which is actually pretty rare for me, to show confidence in my work. Mosh follows the same 'Why should we advertise?' rule as Soundhaus. I really don't get why clubs do this, Its all about penny pinching and cutting costs, that inevitably works against them.
Anyways, 2 and half years was a good innings for there and i met some wonderful people, learnt some new bits too. Mosh said they may well try to restart the night in September and see if the new students accept it, Wait and see i guess.
Soundhaus is ok, Although i felt really on edge on saturday night. There was a charity gig on in the main hall that ran over their allocated time by 2hours, which left me Djing the first hour or so in the 80's room, Reminded me of the fridays and working with Tanja, before we both quit.
Friday daytome me, skruff, Nick, Laura and Chibs all went to the zoo! We saw animals there (really), also I had a chocolate crepe and covered myself in the choccy sauce.
I am trying to prep and sort for larp but have go to the point where there's nothing i can do until the others start picking up their heels. Of course everyone else is of the mindset that everything can be left to the last week, as most larpers do. Me sending bossy emails seems to help. But then most these people have jobs and girlfriends, both of which i don't have, So they have good reason to be busy.
I cant think of anything else to write. So i'll finish here.
Oooh! Scrubs has cleared to do an eighth season apparently! Woooooot!

Allo!

Anyways, James got himself a nice coif for the season ahead. While I got myself a great helm and some magnificent Gauntlets. You'll spot me easily on the battle field this year (if i make it that far), I'll be the shiny thing attacking tree or waddling in circles. I also got some old stylee games and dice, which will add some fun to things.
Monday I helped Lewis and Tin move house bits. Which was more hard work than i expected, But then again it was fun and nice to spend some time with them.
It seems this weds will probably be the final Mosh, As the low numbers have finally won. I could go into lengthy rant about door prices, midweeks, scenes etc etc, But theres not really any point. I'll miss doing it, but then I won't in other ways. Its mostly the people I'll miss, as i made loads of new friends up in leicester. Guess we'll see what happens really. Its not like its a world away, so i can go there other times.
Monday night me and Chibs started watching Chrono Crusade again. Leaving a 2year gap since we last watched it has left us unsure where we got too, But its fun :) I forgot what a cool looking character Rosette is, Its got me and chibs thinking of a new larp character for her, that could fit into our new concept. She was impressed with the work thats been done on the house too, which cheered mum up loads :)
Warcraft is uber fun. We've progressed now into taking down Lurker and Void reaver in the 25man content, I'm really enjoying November, they are all such nice people. This (according to the mostly accurate server progress charts) makes us the 37th best guild on the server, Or the 25th best Alliance guild :)
Everyone was out last sat, was awesomely awesome to see you all!

1. I'm trying to be your girlfriend Gerry! I'm trying to win you back! I'm standing on the platform at Limbo Central with my heart and soul packed in my suitcase waiting for the Gerry Fucking Express to roll in and tell me that my ticket is still valid and that I may reboard the train. Only the station announcer keeps coming on and telling me that my train has been delayed as the driver has suffered a major panic attack in Indecision City, "We suggest you take the bus"! That's what I have been trying to do, you cripple!
7. Why Ed does this mean we're not friends anymore? You know Ed, if I thought you weren't my friend... I just don't think I could bear it!
14. I am eating this very good meats and vegetables in a very fine sauce... I will shit easy tomorrow.
Now gooooooo!

Echoing a post made by James A recently.... Seems alot of larpers are becoming anti larp and anti cp this year. I think its a real shame, but i guess people get different kicks from different things. Just a shame to see people going like that as i'm seeing more and more friends leaving the hobby.
